Houses

The hotel was dug, not built

Desert Rock is sixty-four keys in the Hejaz, cut into the granite, run by the developer rather than by a borrowed flag. It is the Library's clearest case of a house made by taking rock away.

Desert Rock opened in early February 2025 in the Hejaz Mountains, inside the Red Sea destination and not on it. Sixty-four keys: fifty-four villas and ten suites, on a site of about thirty thousand square metres. Twenty minutes by road from Red Sea International. Thirty minutes from the water. If you came for a jetty, you are in the wrong file.

Oppenheim Architecture drew it. Studio Paolo Ferrari did the rooms. The Library's card is more specific than a metaphor. Guests reach the rooms through 195 metres of tunnel. There are five forms: Wadi Villas, Cliff Hanging Villas, Mountain Crevice Villas, Mountain Cave Suites, and a three-bedroom Royal Villa. In August 2023 the plan was forty-eight villas and twelve hotel rooms. What opened in 2025 was sixty-four keys, fifty-four villas and ten suites. The mountain changed the drawing. Stone taken from the site faces the walls and the floors. Ground stone and the existing sand go into the aggregate. Rainwater is kept to green the wadi. The hotel was dug, not built. Red Sea Global owns it and Red Sea Global Hospitality runs it. There is no international flag on the door. That is the developer's proof that it can operate, not only appoint.

How to use it

Pair it with an island, do not substitute it for one. The Office prices a sane file at three nights on the water and two in the rock, or the reverse if the guest is here for the mountain. From about one thousand two hundred dollars the dune-and-rock houses sit under Nujuma and level with a serious island that is not a Reserve. You are paying for the cut in the granite and for a night that does not pretend to be the Maldives. Six Senses Southern Dunes, seventy-six keys, November 2023, is the other inland door — wellness on sand, the first resort the destination opened. Rock is the later, harder argument.

The last line

The desk can ask. It cannot invent a door.

Where the house is open, that is the official rate and the privileges that house actually honours. Where it is not open, the answer is that it is not open. Miles and status are not a promise on a project with no reservations.
