The Calendar
The coast is repriced by the Kingdom's year
Ramadan's last ten nights, the two Eids, the school breaks and Riyadh Season do what the Palio does to Siena. The weather is a second calendar, and it does not match the first.

The Red Sea does not have a Palio. It has a domestic calendar that reprices the same rooms, and a weather calendar that does not agree with it. Read both before you read the rate.
The expensive nights are the last ten of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the Saudi school breaks, and the months when Riyadh Season is on, roughly October to March. Occupancy at eighty-two percent in the last days of Ramadan was this machine working. It was not a sign that the destination has been found by the long-haul market. Book those dates if you are travelling with the Kingdom. Do not book them if you came for empty sand and then complain about the families.
The other calendar
December to February is twenty to twenty-eight degrees and the international window. June to August is forty degrees and more on the coast, and the rate softens because it should. October, November, March and April are the overlaps a traveller actually wants. September and late May are the value, if the guest can tolerate heat at the edges. For October through March, the Office says to be in the file three to four months out. Ummahat in winter does not reward a spontaneous week.
A dry destination does not grow a European August. There is no wine list to hide in, and the midday is not a Provençal midday. The guest who needs a festival as the reason for the trip should go to Siena. The guest who needs a month when the rate and the thermometer are both tolerable should take November, or March, and say the name of the island in the same sentence.

The last line
The desk can ask. It cannot invent a door.
Where the house is open, that is the official rate and the privileges that house actually honours. Where it is not open, the answer is that it is not open. Miles and status are not a promise on a project with no reservations.
